The Golden Gate Arabian Horse Association is proud to present our 59th Annual Arabian and Half-Arabian Show and extend an invitation to the public to come watch some amazing horses perform and compete in Halter, English, Western, and Native Costume. The Arabian horse holds the distinction of being the oldest known breed of riding horse. Virtually every other breed can trace their roots back to an Arabian. For thousands of years these noble creatures lived among the desert tribes of the Arabian Peninsula. They were bred by Bedouins as war mounts for their ability to travel over vast distances with little water and with their large lung capacity they are the undisputed endurance horse. Also known as the family horse, Arabians were highly cherished and lived in their owners tents. Today, the Arabian horse is referred to as “Living Art” beloved and admired by people around the world for their incredible energy, intelligence and gentle disposition. Come see why these horses are not only beautiful but talented too. Special and exciting events on Saturday evening, April 1st include a Pro-Am class where the horse is ridden 1st by a professional trainer and once by an amateur. The winning pair will be awarded a cash prize. There will also be a Liberty class that shows off the playfulness and majesty of individual horses as they are turned out into the ring without a rider or handler. A cash prize will also be awarded to the winner of this class. Come meet an Arabian horse and prepare to fall in love!
