Sonoma County Fire Relief Beer Event

There isn’t a single person living in Sonoma County who was not affected by the October wildfires – many lost loved ones, homes, childhood pictures, collections, treasures, and much more – but the energy and persistence to rebuild is what drives many of us now. It is through the compassion and outpouring of generosity from our community that has helped keep Sonoma County strong.

Our community’s tireless efforts to help those affected by the tragic October wildfires will be on full display on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Sonoma County Fire Relief Beer Event. Taking place at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, the event will celebrate all things craft beer at the biggest beer event Sonoma County’s ever seen—for one time only.

Modeled after great beer and microbrew competitions from around the world, the Craft Cup will feature dozens of renowned breweries and brewmasters who compete head to head in a juried competition known as the BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) Commercial Beer Competition. Industry-leading judges will set out to name the true winner of Battle of the Brews, the Craft Cup Best of Show, along with category favorites and winners. Entries in the BJCP-Certified Commercial Beer Competition will also be available for tasting by event attendees.

Immediately following the Craft Cup Competition, the People’s Choice Main Event will host dozens of craft beers and food vendors. Since 1996, the People’s Choice Main Event is a local favorite celebrating craft beer, food, and live music, all while raising money for local charitable organizations, from the Sonoma County Children’s Museum to Chop’s Teen Club, local Boys and Girls Clubs, The Children’s Village and more. And for the first time, the Main Event will be held beyond the walls of the Grace Pavilion, all within the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.

Brought to you by the group that has hosted Battle of the Brews, Sonoma County’s Premier Craft Beer Event since 1996, in conjunction with the Active 20-30 Club of Santa Rosa #50, the Sonoma County Fire Relief Beer Event was envisioned following the devastating wildfires that ravaged Sonoma County in October. In partnership with Sonoma County’s three major beer distributors: Columbia Distributing, Eagle Distributing and Morris Distributing, the groups came together to see how they could partner to bring a one-of-a-kind experience celebrating Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, and craft beer, while benefitting those affected by the wildfires. All proceeds will benefit groups and organizations aiding Sonoma County wildfire victims during the rebuilding and recovery effort.
