Hunting for Easter eggs or celebrating the return of spring?

As the spring sun shines through our window and flowers start to blossom, we realize that spring is here. With it comes Easter and Earth Day to name a few April events. With these days we often times have egg hunts. When I think of hunting, I envision a person carrying a bow and arrow set. If the target is an egg then that egg is struck by an arrow…..Ok, of course this is not the case. When we or rather our children participate in Easter egg hunts, we are finding real colored eggs or plastic eggs filled with treats. Egg hunts are a fun way to celebrate the return of spring and the new life that springtime brings.

Here in Santa Rosa, we have a multitude of spring events that occur. If you are looking for an Easter Egg hunt to participate in, you have many options including but not limited to Sonoma County’s Biggest Easter Egg Hunt held at the Fairgrounds on Saturday April 7th at 1:00pm. For families with children under 5 years of age, you may opt for the Spring Egg Hunt for Tots held at the Howarth Park Softball Field on Saturday, April 7th starting at 10am or 10:45am for 3 and under (accompanied by parents); 11:30am for 4&5 year olds (no parents on field). For more info call: (707) 543-3282.

Regardless of how you plan on spending the Easter weekend, we can all enjoy the celebration of spring and new life. When we see the bud break in the vineyards and the daffodils, tulips and lilies bloom, we can smile knowing that new life has begun and we are here to breathe the sweet scent of it. Happy Spring!
