Scenic Drives

Russian River/Redwoods/Ocean
Approximate driving time 3 hours

Take the River Road exit off Highway 101 north, go left over the freeway and continue on River Road through the vineyards. You will see Korbel Champagne cellars on your right. Lovely gardens, a visitors center and deli are located there. Continue on River Road to the community of Guerneville and the home of the Armstrong Woods State Park. This is an 800 acre preserve featuring a magnificent grove of ancient redwoods, trails and picnic area. Continue west on River Road to Jenner at Highway 1 and witness the spectacular sight of the Russian River flowing into the Pacific Ocean. Go south on Highway 1 to Bodega Bay, a working fishing village. Continue south on Highway 1 to Highway 12 east to the small community of Bodega where scenes from the classic Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds" was filmed. Continue east through Sebastopol through beautiful apple orchards and finish in Santa Rosa.

Sonoma Valley's Vineyards and Wineries
Approximate Driving Time 2 hours

From Santa Rosa take Highway 12 east to the Valley of the Moon. There are beautiful vineyards and over 50 wineries in the Sonoma Valley. White landmark signs will direct you to the various wineries. The small town of Glen Ellen is home to Jack London State Park and Museum, and the very popular Benziger Family Winery tram tour. The town of Sonoma is built around a plaza with lovely shops and delightful restaurants. The last California Mission is located there and several other historic sites. After stopping in Sonoma, travel back on Highway 12 west returning to Santa Rosa.
