A Few Extra Hours
If all you have is a few extra hours you have options. If your break is midday, spend a few hours at the Charles M. Schulz Museum and learn about the cartoonist behind Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the rest of the Peanuts Gang. If you are done early and have a few hours at the end of the afternoon, stop by Paradise Ridge Winery for one of the best views of Santa Rosa and taste our local wine. If your evening is free, stroll downtown Courthouse Square or Railroad Square for shopping, a bite to eat at one of our many restaurants or stop by the world-famous Russian River Brewery.
A Free Half Day
If you have a half day, head east to Safari West, the Sonoma Serengeti, a 400-acre private wildlife preserve. Take a jeep ride and see animals like giraffes, rhinos, cape buffalo or how about an Aoudad or Bongo? If hiking is more your style head west to Armstrong Woods a preserve of 805 acres of coast redwoods. Take a deep breath in the forest, look up at the soaring canopy and be amazed by the Cornel Armstrong tree, the oldest tree at more than 1,400 years old or the tallest tree, Parson Jones that extends upward of more than 310 feet. If your trip has been more stressful than usual, relax at Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary with a cedar bath or an outdoor Pagoda massage along the forested banks of Salmon Creek.
