Sip and Fly: Southwest Airlines Adds Sonoma County Service With Free Wine Check
Getting to Sonoma County wine country just became easier, and bringing a taste of it home is now part of the journey.
With new nonstop service from Southwest Airlines arriving at the Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport, travelers have more convenient access to Santa Rosa and Sonoma County's wineries and vineyards. And now, there’s even more reason to raise a glass because eligible flyers can check one case of wine at no additional cost with Southwest's Sip and Ship™ program.
Sonoma County has long been known for its world-class wineries, scenic vineyard views, and laid-back approach to wine tasting. With expanded air service, visitors can spend less time planning logistics and more time enjoying the experiences that define the region, from intimate tastings to vineyard tours and farm-to-table dining paired perfectly with local wine varietals.
The addition of Southwest Airlines flights brings key connections between Santa Rosa and major cities like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Denver, making it easier than ever to plan a quick getaway or an extended stay in wine country.
One of the most exciting perks tied to this new service is Southwest’s wine-friendly travel benefit. Travelers departing from select West Coast wine destinations, including Sonoma County, can check one case of wine for free.
Here’s how it works:
- One case (up to 12 bottles) may be checked at no charge
- Wine must be unopened, properly packaged, and under 50 pounds
- Passengers must be 21 or older
This means your favorite bottle from a Santa Rosa tasting room doesn’t have to stay behind, it can travel home with you, extending your Sonoma County experience long after your trip ends.
