"Summit" Sunday
If you have previously completed the Intermediate Hiking for Fitness Program or can hike 7.5 miles with at least 1,500ft of elevation, this hike may be right for you. From the White Barn parking lot, we will start out on Hillside Trail up Brushy Peaks Trail to one of the "summits" of Gray Pine, where we will eat lunch along the ridgeline. From there we will take an adventurous return on Red Mountain, Headwaters, Vista, Gray Pine, and Meadow Trails. We strongly recommend completion of the shorter version of the Bald Mt. hike (in and out via Bald Mountain Trail) as a pre-requisite. This outing is not for children under 15 years old.
This event requires advance registration; day-of on site tickets will not be available. There is a $10 deposit per ticket, which will be returned post-hike, unless you choose to donate it to support Sugarloaf. Wear appropriate footwear for rocky/slippery trails and multiple layers (it will be cold when we start, but you'll get warmed up as we climb). Bring your lunch, at least two quarts of water, and hiking poles if you use them. Excessive heat (90°F and above) postpone to Sunday, June 28. Parking fees apply.
